Talent is the foundation of REA. The value of the network – for members, partners and the broader platform – depends on the quality of the people inside it.

That is why every chapter recruits to the same global standard.

REA focuses primarily on postgraduate and final-year students with a strong academic and early professional background, a clear interest in the capital and management side of real estate, and the ambition to build a serious career in the industry.

Who we look for

REA recruits students who already stand out among their peers and show clear potential to build strong careers in real estate.

Most members are postgraduate or final-year students with a strong academic record, relevant professional exposure and a demonstrated interest in the investment, finance and management side of the industry.

Backgrounds differ across universities and markets, but the level we look for does not: high ability, strong ambition, genuine industry interest and the drive to contribute beyond their own career. We want people who raise the quality of the chapter around them and, over time, strengthen the wider REA Network.

How recruitment works

Recruitment is managed locally, using one common and coordinated process across the network.

Candidates enter through applications, referrals or, most of the times, direct headhunting, followed by an interview with the local team. The aim is simple: understand the person behind the CV, their motivation for real estate and what they would bring to REA. The same standard applies whether someone is applying in London, Montréal, Shanghai or Frankfurt.

How chapters are structured

Each chapter is led by a President and a small board, together responsible for local recruitment, events, partnerships and the development of the community. Local teams operate independently in their market while remaining connected through and coordinated by REA’s regional and global structure. This keeps chapters close to their universities and local industry while maintaining one consistent network internationally.

Local teams are deliberately kept small, averaging around 15 members, allowing for a highly selective recruitment process, stronger relationships within each chapter, and meaningful involvement for every member – making admission to REA highly competitive.

Why the standard matters

Those global recruitment standards are what make REA truly distinctive. They create a network where members can expect to meet the same level of ambition, quality and industry focus across cities, regions and countries.

For students, that means access to exceptional peers, alumni, firms and opportunities far beyond their own market. For partners, it means access to a talent pool that has already been selected to a consistent and demanding standard.

The students joining REA today will become the leaders of the industry tomorrow. By bringing that talent together early and maintaining the same standard as the network grows, REA is building a professional network with the potential to compound in value across careers, markets and generations.
