REA Network Foundation is responsible for the personal data collected through rea.network. This policy explains what we hold and why. We collect as little as we can, and we do not sell it.

What we collect

  • What you tell us. Your name, email address, university, chapter interest and anything you write in an enquiry, application or partnership form.
  • Membership records. Where you join a chapter, the record of your membership, roles held and participation in REA programmes.
  • Event details. Registrations, and where a host firm requires it, the details needed to admit you to their building.
  • Technical data. Basic, aggregated information about how the site is used, so we can keep it working.

We do not ask for special-category data, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

Why we use it

We use what we collect to answer enquiries, to run selection and membership, to organise events, to operate the REA Platform, and to keep members and partners informed about the parts of REA that concern them. Where you have opted in, we also send occasional updates; every one of them carries a way to stop receiving them.

Our basis for processing is your consent where you gave it, and our legitimate interest in running the network where you did not — for example, in replying to an enquiry you sent us.

Who sees it

Personal data is seen by the REA people who need it: the chapter you applied to, the global or regional team running the programme, and the small number of service providers who host our systems. Where an event is hosted by a partner firm, we share only the attendee details that firm needs to admit you.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not pass member data to partners as a recruitment product. Partners meet members through REA’s formats and the Platform, on terms members can see.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while we deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Membership and alumni records are kept for as long as you are part of the network, and in a reduced form after that, because the point of REA is a relationship that outlasts a degree. You can ask us to remove them.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to receive a copy, or to withdraw a consent you gave. Write to info@rea.network and we will answer within a month. If you are in the EU or the UK and are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies

This site uses the cookies it needs to function and, where you allow them, a small number that tell us which pages are read. You can change that choice at any time through the cookie settings in the footer.
